List of All Available Lodging in Levanto

Understanding Levanto as a Destination

Levanto strikes a nice balance between authentic Italian coastal living and easy access to the Cinque Terre. This seaside town has beautiful beaches, plenty of outdoor activities, and a much more laid-back feel than its busier neighbors.

Geography and Proximity to Cinque Terre

Levanto sits 10 kilometers north of Monterosso al Mare, the first of the Cinque Terre villages. The location is ideal for exploring the area without dealing with crowds. Tucked along the Italian Riviera—about 80 km from Genoa and 30 km from La Spezia—Levanto is well-connected by train and road.

The town nestles in a valley surrounded by green hills and Mediterranean vegetation. Unlike the steep Cinque Terre villages, Levanto has flatter areas, so getting around is easier. The mix of mountains and sea makes for some pretty epic views.

Many travelers pick Levanto as their base because it’s got more space, better amenities, and lower prices than staying right in the Cinque Terre.

Levanto’s Beaches and Coastline

Levanto has one of the most impressive beaches in the area—a wide crescent of sand lining the bay. There are both free public spots and private clubs where you can rent umbrellas and loungers.

The sea is usually clean and clear, great for swimming in summer. Levanto’s bay keeps the water calmer than much of the Ligurian coast. Surfers love it here, especially in fall and winter when the waves pick up.

Unlike the tiny rocky coves of the Cinque Terre, Levanto’s beach actually has room to breathe, even during peak season. The palm-lined promenade next to the beach is dotted with cafes and restaurants overlooking the water.

Outdoor Activities and Attractions

Levanto’s best explored by bike, with dedicated paths linking it to nearby towns. The flat coastal route to Bonassola and Framura runs through old railway tunnels—no steep climbs, just sea views all the way.

Hikers will find plenty of trails into the hills above Levanto, including ones that connect to the Cinque Terre. The scenery’s hard to beat—panoramic coastline, green hills, and the occasional glimpse of a distant village.

There’s no shortage of water activities: surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking—you name it. Local shops rent gear and offer quick lessons if you’re new to the sport.

The old town has narrow medieval streets, a 13th-century church, and a castle, so there’s some history to soak in too. Local restaurants serve up fresh seafood and Ligurian specialties. Honestly, the food scene feels more genuine and less touristy than in the Cinque Terre villages.

Types of Accommodation in Levanto

Levanto’s got a wide range of places to stay, suiting different budgets and travel styles. You’ll find everything from luxury hotels to cozy B&Bs and private rentals if you want more independence.

Hotels

Hotels in Levanto run the gamut from budget-friendly to high-end. The Hotel Nazionale is a central favorite, close to the train and beach, with comfy rooms and a helpful team. People love the easy access for Cinque Terre day trips.

Park Hotel Argento offers a more upscale experience—think panoramic views, a pool, and a spa. It’s a bit out of the center, so it’s quieter.

Oasi Hotel sits somewhere in the middle, with a garden setting and family-friendly perks. Up in the hills, Hotel Abetaia is a peaceful spot surrounded by pine forest.

Most Levanto hotels include breakfast and air conditioning (trust me, you’ll want that in summer). Prices usually fall between €100-250 per night, depending on the season and what’s on offer.

Bed and Breakfasts

B&Bs in Levanto feel more personal than hotels. Villa Margherita B&B pops up in reviews for its charming rooms and homemade breakfasts with local treats.

Most B&Bs are family-run, and hosts often share tips on where to eat, hike, or find a quiet beach. With just a handful of rooms (usually 3-10), the vibe is intimate and relaxed.

Breakfasts at Levanto’s B&Bs are a real highlight—fresh pastries, local cheese, Italian coffee, sometimes served in a garden or on a rooftop terrace.

Prices usually range from €75-175 per night. In peak summer, expect a two-night minimum stay at most places.

Apartments

If you want more space and freedom, renting an apartment makes sense. Most come with a kitchen, so you can shop at local markets and cook if you feel like it.

You’ll find everything from simple studios to big multi-bedroom flats for families or groups. Many are in renovated historic buildings in the center, giving you that classic Italian feel with modern comforts.

Having your own space, the option to do laundry, and saving money by cooking now and then are definite perks. Most apartments ask for a minimum stay (3-5 nights in busy season).

Prices run from €90-200 per night, depending on size and location. Keep in mind, apartments usually don’t have daily cleaning like hotels—just something to consider.

Villas and Vacation Rentals

For longer stays or bigger groups, villas and vacation homes in Levanto give you the most space and privacy. Many have gardens, terraces, and sometimes a private pool.

Villas in the hills come with jaw-dropping views and a peaceful setting, but you’ll probably want a rental car since they’re farther from town and the beach.

Vacation rentals vary a lot in price. Smaller spots start around €150 a night, while luxury villas with pools and sea views can go way above €500. Most want a week-long stay in summer.

These places are best if you want to settle in and live like a local for a while. Some owners throw in welcome baskets or can even set up private cooking lessons in your kitchen—nice touch, right?

Choosing the Best Location to Stay in Levanto

Levanto has a few different areas to stay, each with its own perks depending on your travel style. The town’s layout makes it easy to find somewhere that fits—whether you’re after beach access, convenience, or a killer view.

Experience Levanto: Surf, Sun & Italian Charm
Easy booking across stunning accommodations from historic buildings to modern retreats. Perfect for surfing and kayaking with pristine beaches just steps away!

Secure Your Italian Getaway

Staying Near the Beach

The beachfront is all about quick access to the sand and water activities. Most places here are just a short stroll from the water—perfect if swimming and sunbathing are your thing.

Many hotels and apartments by the beach have sea-view terraces, so you can enjoy the Med even when you’re not on the sand. Plus, you’re close to the promenade with its gelato shops and beach bars.

Just keep in mind, beachfront spots usually cost more, especially in summer (June-August), and they can get noisy when the promenade is buzzing at night.

Accommodation in Town Center

The town center is a sweet spot for convenience and value. Levanto’s compact, so you’re never far from the beach, and you’ve got shops, restaurants, and everything else right at your door.

Here you’ll find narrow streets and traditional buildings, many of which have been updated but keep their old-school charm. Small hotels and apartments are tucked everywhere.

The train station sits on the edge of the center, making this a great base if you want to hop over to Cinque Terre by rail. Villa Margherita is a popular choice here, with garden spaces for unwinding after a busy day.

Hillside and Panoramic View Options

The hills above Levanto have places with amazing views over the town and sea. These spots often come with gardens and outdoor areas, so you can kick back away from the crowds.

Hillside stays are usually quieter and more spacious. Many are converted farmhouses or villas, giving you a taste of rural Italian life.

The catch? You’ll need to walk 15-20 minutes downhill to reach town—and back up again after. Some places offer shuttle rides, but honestly, having a car helps if you pick a hillside property. Think about your mobility and transport plans before booking.

Amenities and Services to Look For

The right amenities can really make your Levanto stay easier and more enjoyable. A few key services might save you money or just add a little comfort to your trip.

Parking Options

Parking in Levanto gets tricky, especially in high season. Lots of hotels offer free parking, which is a huge bonus (it can save you €15-20 a day). Always double-check if it’s on-site or nearby.

Hotels near the train station often have limited parking that fills up fast. In the historic center, ask about any zone restrictions or permits you’ll need.

Some places provide private parking for a fee (usually €10-15 per day), which guarantees a spot and more security for your car.

Apartments and B&Bs may point you to public lots. The main one by the beach fills up early in summer, so arriving before 10 AM is smart if you’re driving in.

Free WiFi and Connectivity

Most places in Levanto now offer free WiFi, but the quality can be hit or miss. Hotels in the center usually have better internet than hillside properties.

Ask about WiFi in the rooms—some budget spots only have it in common areas, which can be annoying if you need to work or stay in touch with family.

Download the Cinque Terre train app before you go; it works offline and makes life easier. Some fancier hotels even have tablets or smart TVs with local info and streaming options.

Cell signal can be spotty in the valley, but properties higher up usually get better reception. If staying connected is important, it’s worth checking before you book.

Breakfast and Dining

Plenty of Levanto hotels throw in breakfast with your stay. If you can, pick somewhere that serves up real Ligurian treats—think focaccia and local pastries instead of the usual bland continental stuff.

B&Bs often whip up homemade breakfasts with local ingredients, and honestly, that can be one of the highlights. Some apartment rentals even surprise you with a welcome basket for your first morning.

Hotels with restaurants usually serve dinner up to about 9:30 PM, which helps if you’re back late from Cinque Terre hikes. Quite a few places will pack you a lunch for day trips if you ask.

Bigger hotels might have room service, but don’t count on it in smaller spots. If your place doesn’t serve meals, no worries—tons of restaurants are just a short walk away in most central areas.

Comparing Levanto with Nearby Destinations

Picking a base along the Italian Riviera? Levanto has some real perks compared to Cinque Terre villages or other nearby towns. It’s got that authentic Italian vibe but still plenty of tourist-friendly stuff, plus easy access to the famous villages.

Levanto vs. Monterosso

Monterosso is the biggest Cinque Terre village, but it’s pretty different from Levanto. Monterosso gets swamped with tourists and prices shoot up in peak season, while Levanto feels a lot more laid-back with fewer crowds.

Levanto’s beach is bigger and sandier, while Monterosso has more pebbles. The water’s gorgeous at both, but you’ll have more room to stretch out in Levanto.

For places to stay, Levanto gives you more choices and bang for your buck. You might pay 15-20% less for a similar room here than in Monterosso.

Levanto is also much easier if you’ve got a car, since parking in Monterosso is nearly impossible and pricey. For drivers, Levanto just makes sense.

Exploring Bonassola

Bonassola is just north of Levanto, linked by a scenic 2 km path through old railway tunnels right along the sea.

This little coastal town is quieter than both Levanto and the Cinque Terre spots. The beach here is a mix of sand and pebbles, with super clear water and a gentle slope—ideal for swimming.

Bonassola doesn’t have as many restaurants—maybe 6-8 compared to Levanto’s 25-plus—but the seafood is fantastic and prices are a bit lower.

Accommodation is limited—mainly small hotels and vacation rentals—but the local feel is real. You can reach Bonassola easily from Levanto by train (3 minutes), bike (15 minutes), or on foot along the sea (about 30 minutes).

How to Book Accommodation in Levanto

Booking in Levanto isn’t rocket science, but knowing where to look and when to book can save you some cash and hassle.

Online Booking Platforms

Booking.com has the most listings for Levanto, with lots of photos and reviews. You’ll find everything from upscale hotels to budget options, and usually good year-round availability.

Agoda.com sometimes offers better rates and exclusive deals. Their site is easy to use for comparing places by amenities or location.

Don’t skip checking out boutique hotel websites directly. Many family-run places in Levanto actually prefer you book with them and may toss in perks like free breakfast or a room upgrade if you do.

TripAdvisor and Airbnb are also handy for finding apartments and B&Bs in the area.

Tips for Getting the Best Rates

If you’re coming in high season (May-September), book 3-4 months ahead for better prices and more choice. Waiting until the last minute in summer? Don’t expect discounts—places fill up fast.

Use comparison tools like Trivago or Hotels Combined to see different prices side by side. Rates can swing 15-20% between booking sites, which is wild.

Sign up for loyalty programs with the big booking sites. For example, Booking’s Genius program gives you 10-15% off after your first booking on a lot of Levanto properties.

Sometimes it’s worth emailing or calling hotels directly, especially for longer stays. They often prefer direct bookings to avoid fees and might cut you a deal.

Seasonal Considerations

For high season (June-August), book 4-6 months out. Prices jump 30-50% compared to shoulder seasons, and spots fill up fast.

Shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October) are a sweet spot: better value, nice weather, and not as many people. Rates usually drop 20-30%, and most restaurants are still open.

Low season (November-March) is a mixed bag—many places close, but those that stay open can be dirt cheap. Some hotels run winter specials with half-board deals.

Don’t forget the weather. October and November tend to be rainier, which can mess with hiking plans in Cinque Terre.

Travel Tips for a Comfortable Stay

A little planning goes a long way in Levanto. Pack right and know your way around, and you’ll have a much smoother trip to this gorgeous Ligurian town.

Packing for Levanto’s Climate

Levanto’s got a Mediterranean climate that changes with the seasons. Summer (June-August) gets warm—25-30°C (77-86°F)—so bring light clothes, swimwear, and plenty of sun protection. Spring and fall are milder but unpredictable, so pack layers you can peel off or pile on.

Winter’s chillier and wetter, with temps between 5-15°C (41-59°F). Bring a waterproof jacket and a couple of sweaters.

Comfortable walking shoes are a must all year, especially if you’re hitting the town or those coastal trails.

Most places provide beach towels, but bringing a lightweight one never hurts if you’re not sure.

Local Transportation and Accessibility

If you’re getting around Levanto, the train’s honestly your best bet. The station links straight to all five Cinque Terre villages, and during peak season, trains roll in about every half hour. Grab a Cinque Terre Card if you want unlimited rides between Levanto and La Spezia—makes life a lot easier.

Buses wind through town and reach nearby villages you can’t get to by train. You’ll find schedules tacked up at the main station and the tourist office, though sometimes they’re a bit out of date.

Uncover Levanto's Hidden Treasures
Elegant hotels, seaside apartments, and vacation rentals with immediate confirmation. Beautiful beaches and world-class restaurants await your arrival!

See Available Properties

Lots of people rent bikes, especially for Levanto’s flatter bits or if you’re feeling like coasting along the bike path toward Bonassola or Framura. A handful of rental shops cluster near the train station, usually charging €10-15 for the day. Not exactly cheap, but it’s fun.

Parking gets rough in the summer. If you’re driving, you’ll want to just head for the paid lots at the edge of town—hunting for a street spot in the center is almost always a lost cause.
